SUSTAINABILITY
At Finnskogtoppen Spa & Velværehotell (Spa & Wellness Hotel), we are committed to operating in a more environmentally friendly and sustainable way – for our guests, our employees, and, most importantly, for the planet. Although we are an independent hotel, we make conscious choices when it comes to sustainability. We offer close connections to nature, organic products, and locally sourced food.
We choose nature – for our guests, our operations, and our team
At Finnskogtoppen Spa & Velværehotell, we make thoughtful choices for nature, for people, and for a more sustainable future. Our vision is to operate the hotel in harmony with its surroundings and with consideration for both our guests and our employees.
Nature inspires every aspect of our operations. The hotel is built from wood, heated using geothermal energy, and supplied by our own water source. We have also invested in a new water treatment system for our pool, providing a healthier and more environmentally friendly approach to water and chemical management.
Natural and organic products
Many of the products we provide in our guest rooms and treatments come from Maria Åkerberg, a natural and organic skincare brand. Most of the products available in our shop are also organic.
Transportation, waste reduction, and local food
We actively work to reduce transportation to and from the hotel, including facilitating shared transportation options and taking advantage of the good public transport connections to Kongsvinger.
We continuously work to reduce food waste, sort and recycle waste, and reuse materials whenever possible. We are also committed to supporting local producers. That is why we offer food products and specialty items from local suppliers such as Finnskogmat, both in our restaurant and in our shop.
Sustainable everyday choices and the people behind our operations
We have chosen cotton over synthetic textiles wherever possible. We wash our towels and bathrobes on-site and offer slippers for rental rather than single-use alternatives. Guests may also choose whether they would like fresh towels during their stay – a simple measure that can make a meaningful difference.
For us, sustainability is not only about the environment, but also about people. Our employees are one of our most important resources. We work every day to create a healthy workplace and a positive working environment, while ensuring that workloads remain manageable and sustainable. This is our way of taking social responsibility and promoting sustainability within our organization as well.
